About Sonja Lyubomirsky
"Sonja Lyubomirsky could be called the Happiness Professor. As a research psychologist and author of "The How of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to Getting the Life You Want", Lyubomirsky focuses on the science of what makes people happy and how that science can be used to touch people's lives. Her pioneering concept of the 40% solution shows that, while a large part of happiness is based on genetics, all individuals have the ability to create lasting happiness through a series of simple, yet transformative, steps. Lyubomirsky is a professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside where her research focus is studying the science of happiness. She received her B.A. from Harvard University and her Ph.D. in social psychology from Stanford University. Lyubomirsky and her research have been the recipients of many honors, including the 2002 Templeton Positive Psychology Prize and a multiyear grant from the National Institute of Mental Health. She lives in Santa Monica, California, with her family.
